Revenue from sales of Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses more than tripled over the year, EssilorLuxottica reported in its financial report, CNBC writes.
The success of this model, created in partnership with parent company Facebook since 2019, helped boost the company's total sales in the first half of the year to 14.02 billion euros ($16.25 billion) , up 7.3% from last year.
EssilorLuxottica CEOs Francesco Milleri and Paul du Sayan said they see the future of glasses as a new computing platform that combines artificial intelligence, sensor technology, and medical infrastructure focused on working with large amounts of data.
The company also recalled the launch of new Oakley Meta smart glasses in June, which were a continuation of the partnership with Meta. According to CNBC, a Prada -branded version is expected in the future.
By the way, EssilorLuxottica owns several well-known eyewear brands, including not only Ray-Ban and Oakley, but also Vogue Eyewear and Persol . In September, Meta extended a long-term agreement with Luxottica to collaborate on smart glasses for the next decade.
