Back at MWC 2024, Europe's largest telecommunications company, Deutsche Telekom, unveiled the AI Phone concept, an AI smartphone that can perform a variety of tasks without the need for separate apps. And at MWC 2025, the company announced that this smartphone would become a reality thanks to a partnership with Perplexity.
The AI Phone will run on the unique Magneta AI operating system and Perplexity AI artificial intelligence. Thanks to this, users will be able to call a taxi, book tables in restaurants, translate in real time, add events to the calendar, make calls, listen to music and perform many other tasks.
The AI Phone will support both text and voice input. The company emphasizes that the main idea of the smartphone is to provide users with access to all the necessary daily functions without the need to install numerous applications.
In the future, Deutsche Telekom also plans to provide access to Google Cloud AI, ElevenLabs, and Picsart.
Deutsche Telekom does not provide further details about the device, but notes that it will become available during 2025.
