Michael Sarnoski is joining the cast of Hideo Kojima's Death Stranding. He will write the script and direct the film, Deadline reports.

Michael Sarnosky is best known for his work on A Quiet Place: Day One. He also wrote and directed the quirky film Pig, starring Nicolas Cage. Sarnosky most recently directed The Death of Robin Hood for A24, starring Hugh Jackman and Jodie Comer.

The film will have a long list of producers, with A24, Kojima Productions, and Ari Aster's production company Square Peg working on the film. A24 announced that the film will explore "a catastrophic series of events that blurred the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead," creating the fragmented society we saw in the game.

Players had to play as Sam Porter Bridges, who is tasked with reuniting a divided America, reviving hope, and restoring connections between the last remnants of humanity.

The game had an all-star cast: Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Guillermo del Toro, Nicolas Winding Refn, and Margaret Quelle. There is no information yet on the casting of the film.
