Netflix has announced the second season of the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, the anime from Netflix and Japanese studio TRIGGER based on the CD Projekt Red game Cyberpunk 2077, is getting a second season. The streaming service has already released the first teaser and a few details about the upcoming show.

First of all, Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 is already in production, but it will be a completely unrelated story to the first season. A total of 10 episodes are planned, which will show new characters and their adventures in Night City.

"Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 presents a new standalone 10-episode story from the world of Cyberpunk 2077— a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge. In a city that thrives in the spotlight of violence, one question remains: when the world is blinded by spectacle, what extremes do you have to go to make your story matter?" the synopsis reads.

Kai Ikarashi, who worked on the first season and the SSSS.Gridman anime, will direct, and lead character designer Kanno Ichigo, who also worked on the Promare feature-length anime, will also return.

They will be joined by Masahiko Otsuka, who worked on Gurren Lagann and Promare, and Bartosz Sztybor. The two will serve as showrunners, writers, and producers for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The release date is currently unknown.
