Counter-Strike 2 cases brought Valve over $100 million in March 2025

Counter-Strike 2, Valve's most popular game, and also the most popular game among Steam users, brings developers considerable income thanks to cases, Dexerto reports.

Valve earned over $100 million from players in March 2025. During that month, at least 32 million players opened cases in Counter-Strike 2. While prices vary and they are mostly sold on the Steam marketplace, Valve sells case keys directly in-game for $2.50. The company earned over $82 million last month from these keys alone.

Including the sale of cases that players often put up on the community market, where the price sometimes reaches significant amounts, and from which Valve receives a 15% commission, the company's revenue from Counter-Strike 2 exceeds $100 million. And this does not take into account other transactions on the community market related to the game, such as the sale of cosmetic items, including knives.

While case opening statistics in Counter-Strike 2 are not public, sites like CS:GO Case Tracker provide estimates, which are likely underestimates since cases in private inventories are not tracked. According to this resource, CS2 players have already opened over 2 billion cases throughout the game's existence.
