ChatGPT Edu competitor: Anthropic launches chatbot for students and teachers Claude for Education

- 3 April, 02:00 PM

Anthropic has announced the launch of a new chatbot, Claude for Education, which is a response to OpenAI's ChatGPT Edu. It is aimed at students and teachers.

One of the features of Claude for Education is Learning Mode, a new feature that will help students develop critical thinking skills, rather than simply finding answers to questions. In this mode, Claude will ask questions to check understanding, explain the underlying principles behind specific problems, and provide helpful templates for writing research papers, notes, and study guides.

University administrators can use Claude to analyze student work trends and automate recurring email responses to common inquiries.

Claude for Education could be an important step for Anthropic in increasing its revenue. The company is already reportedly making $115 million per month, but aims to double that by 2025, in part due to competition from OpenAI in the education sector.

Anthropic says it has already partnered with Northeastern University in Boston, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Champlain College to make Claude for Education available to all students. Northeastern is the development partner. Anthropic is working with students, faculty, and staff at the university to create best practices for integrating AI, educational tools, and frameworks.
