ChromeOS now has synchronization between Chromebooks

- 25 July, 06:55 PM

Google has released the stable version of ChromeOS M138, which adds cross-device synchronization and improved wallpaper generation using artificial intelligence.

ChromeOS syncing will allow users to quickly pick up where they left off when switching to another Chromebook. This will restore all open windows, tabs, and even cookies from the previous session on the other Chromebook.

You can find the new feature in Settings under Desk sync. Google notes that syncing will be especially useful for shared devices and frontline workers in healthcare, hospitality, and manufacturing.

Another update will improve the ability to generate wallpapers. Google first introduced this feature in May 2024, but it had some limitations. With ChromeOS 138, improved generation will be available on Chromebook Plus devices and will allow you to create any image you want, or use the Inspire me feature, which will generate random images.

Another feature exclusive to Chromebook Plus is Help me read. Thanks to this, users will be able to use artificial intelligence to better understand text information. AI will explain large, confusing texts or slang phrases. There are also functions "Search by selection" and "Text capture" for more convenient visual search of information.

The stable version of ChromeOS 138 should be available to Chromebook owners in the near future.

On this occasion, we suggest you read the Mezha article about the experience of using a Chromebook as a primary device. We also remind you that earlier the head of Google confirmed that the company is working on merging ChromeOS and Android.
