Chipolo introduces new AirTag competitor that works simultaneously with Apple and Google search networks
Chipolo has introduced a new version of its tracker, a competitor to AirTag, which now works simultaneously with the lost items search networks from both Apple and Google.
Previously, the company offered separate models that were compatible with only one of the platforms. Now, the new Chipolo POP device supports both ecosystems out of the box. Chipolo believes this will make the choice much easier for buyers, as they won’t have to worry about which smartphone — Android or iPhone — the gift recipient uses.
Chipolo is among a small group of companies creating their own trackers similar to AirTag. Unlike Tile, which developed its own network, Chipolo has chosen to work directly with Apple and Google’s networks.
By the way, Chipolo has sold over 4.5 million devices to date. Since launching its first Find My-compatible products — Chipolo ONE Spot and Chipolo Card Spot — the company has been experiencing 30% average annual growth, as noted in a letter to TechCrunch.
In addition to supporting two networks, the Chipolo POP also has other functions: finding a lost phone by double-tapping the tracker, warning when leaving the Bluetooth range, changing the ringtone, and using the device as a selfie button.
The Bluetooth range has been increased to 90 meters , and the battery lasts up to 1 year and is easily replaceable.
The new product is available in six colors: blue, black, green, red, white and yellow. The asking price is $29/£30/€35.
