Activision announced Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 from Treyarch and Raven studios
Activision and Microsoft unveiled Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 at the Xbox Games Showcase 2025. This is the first time that two games in the Black Ops series have been released back-to-back — after Black Ops 6 in 2024, the new part is being developed by Treyarch and Raven studios.
The plot of Black Ops 7 continues the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6. In 2035, the world is engulfed in conflict and psychological warfare. The main character, David Mason, son of Alex Mason, returns as the leader of a combat team opposing an enemy that uses fear as its main weapon.
The trailer showed an atypical atmosphere for the series with elements of a psychological thriller: distorted cityscapes, digital butterflies and a robot butler. In terms of style, the trailer is more reminiscent of Remedy projects like Alan Wake than classic Call of Duty.
Black Ops 7 will feature a story campaign with a cooperative mode, a separate multiplayer with new maps, and a zombies mode — this time with a continuation of the Dark Aether storyline. Players are promised "near-future" weapons and classic combat mechanics for the series.
The game will be released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. An exact release date has not yet been announced.
Recall that at the Xbox Games Showcase, a trailer for the new part of A Plague Tale — Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy was also shown. The gameplay of the new game from the creators of The Witcher 3 — The Blood of Dawnwalker was also shown for the first time and the release date and price of The Outer Worlds 2 were announced. In addition, Microsoft and ASUS introduced ROG Xbox Ally. This is a new portable game console based on Windows 11.
