OpenAI will change the "personality" of GPT-5 after user criticism
OpenAI is planning to update GPT-5's "personality" after a wave of negative user feedback. Sam Altman wrote in X that the company is working to make the model "warmer than the current personality but not as annoying (to most users) as GPT-4o."
The decision came after criticism on social media, where users complained about the new model's too "corporate" behavior compared to previous versions. Many noted that GPT-5 seemed less natural in communication and lost the "personality" that was inherent in previous versions.
Recall that almost immediately after the release of GPT-5, OpenAI allowed paid users to return to GPT-4o via the model selector. Many users noted that after upgrading to GPT-5, they lost not just a tool, but a friend.
