Bluesky continues to improve its video capabilities. The latest update allows you to upload videos up to 3 minutes long. This will also likely appeal to fans of Flashes, a new photo and video app based on Bluesky, reports Engadget.

Also, messages from unknown users will now be sent to a separate “Requests” folder. Users will be able to reject incoming chats, which should help reduce spam.

Bluesky CEO Jay Graber said in her keynote at SXSW that Bluesky’s decentralization makes it “billionaire-proof.” She wore a “mundus sine caesaribus” (world without Caesars) T-shirt to the conference, an apparent nod to Mark Zuckerberg’s love of wearing a “Aut Zuck aut nihil” T-shirt, a modified version of the catchphrase “Aut Caesar, aut nihil” (Either Caesar or nothing).

"If a billionaire came in and bought Bluesky or took it over, or I decided tomorrow to change things in a way that people really didn't like, then they could fork off and go on to another application," Graber says. "That openness guarantees that there's always the ability to move to a new alternative, still using the same network."

She also noted that the company is “exploring subscriptions” as well as paid “developer services.” The company is also considering turning some of its features, such as moderation services or custom feeds, into a “marketplace” where it could take a cut of potential transactions.
