Bluesky has a new account verification system
Bluesky, a decentralized social network, has launched a new account verification system: a blue check mark, like on Twitter, will mark verified profiles of famous people and organizations. This is reported by TechCrunch.
The verification system is currently in test mode. Account verification is carried out by independent organizations - Trusted Verifiers. For example, a company can confirm the accounts of its PR specialists so that users can trust them. Each verification will be additionally checked by the Bluesky moderation team.
Previously, Bluesky already had a different verification system in place - users could confirm their account by linking their own domain to it. Over 270,000 people have already used this method.
However, the company says the community requested a more visible authenticity marker, so it decided to introduce a blue check mark. Verification requests are not currently being accepted, but the feature will be open to everyone in the future.
