Blender developers released a free-to-play game that topped the Steam charts two days after release

- 15 July, 01:13 PM

Dogwalk, a new indie game from Blender Studio, has skyrocketed to the top of Steam, garnering over 300 reviews with an overall rating of "Very Favorable" in less than 48 hours after launch. The project was built entirely with open source tools: the Godot engine and Blender.

Players play as a dog walking through a winter landscape in the company of a child owner. Together they search for items to assemble a snowman. The game is short — about 20 minutes — but atmospheric, unhurried, and emotionally rich.

Dogwalk is not just another indie project. It is a demonstration of the possibilities of open source software in game creation — all models, animations, and code are made in Blender and Godot. The game is free to play, and if you wish, you can support the developers through the Supporter Pack for 124 hryvnias.
