Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game announced — release in summer 2026
At New York Comic Con, Gameplay Group International unveiled Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, a 2D fighting game featuring characters from the Avatar universe. The game will be released in summer 2026 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam.
There will be 12 heroes available at launch, with new ones promised to be added seasonally. Among the features is a unique combat system with a "flow system" and support for supporting characters for special moves. The developers promise "the energy of classic fighting games" with a focus on smoothness, control sensitivity, and high-quality online.
In addition to the standard modes, the game will feature crossplay, combo challenges, a gallery, and a story campaign for those who aren't fans of competitive fighting. A trailer with "pre-alpha" gameplay shows off stylized, hand-drawn graphics.
Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game has a chance to become a notable project for fans of the franchise, especially against the backdrop of the unsuccessful Avatar: The Last Airbender – Quest for Balance. In parallel, Paramount is working on its own AAA-RPG based on the series, but it is being developed by Saber Interactive, based in Russia.
