Ubisoft has announced that Assassin's Creed Shadows has surpassed three million players, making it the series' most successful release on Steam and the second best overall after Valhalla.
Other achievements Ubisoft is celebrating include the biggest release day sales in franchise history and the biggest launch of a game on the PlayStation Store in the company's history. Assassin's Creed Shadows has already clocked over 40 million hours of play.
Additionally, analytics company Streams Charts reported that Assassin's Creed Shadows was the third-biggest release on Twitch in 2025. The game officially launched on March 20, but some streamers and viewers were given access earlier, and the first streams began appearing on March 18.
In its first week, the game generated over 10.9 million hours of viewing, the third most of any new game in 2025. The first most popular release of 2025 is Monster Hunter Wilds, followed by Kingdom Come Deliverance II.
By the way, Elon Musk previously tried to criticize the game and instead helped its sales.
As a reminder, Ubisoft has created a separate subsidiary, 25% of which is owned by China's Tencent, which will continue to manage the Assassin's Creed franchise, as well as Far Cry and Rainbow Six.
