The English version of the board game Aridnyk based on Shukhevych's work Hutsulshchyna and Ukrainian mythology, created by Lviv studio boardova, was released on Kickstarter and in three days raised four times more money than the authors requested. At the time of writing, the game has already raised $45,817 against an initial goal of $10,000.
This is a certain precedent for the Ukrainian board game industry, as some domestic products of this kind are translated abroad. The developer of the game Aridnyk is Ukrainian science fiction writer Volodymyr Kuznetsov from the city of Severskodonetsk (until 2024 Severodonetsk), who currently lives in Lviv.
The release of the English version of the game is actively supported by foreigners with Ukrainian roots who want to learn more about Ukraine and the Ukrainian diaspora.
Aridnyk is a board game for 1-4 players with field construction, cards and chips, which have a very colorful and unusual look. The game has several different modes, but in general it is a game about shepherds who lead their flocks to the mountains in the spring and travel until autumn, looking for the best pastures, meeting the ancient spirits and gods of the Carpathians and implementing their cunning plans.
Well, now we're waiting for a computer implementation of this.
