Apple is planning to launch a new gaming app that will come pre-installed on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV this year. It is expected to be announced during the WWDC 2025 conference, which will take place on June 9. Bloomberg writes about this.
The new app will replace the current Game Center and offer centralized access to games, achievements, leaderboards, in-game communication, editorial content, a games section in the App Store, and Apple Arcade subscription promotion. The Mac version will also be able to work with games downloaded outside of the App Store.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is trying to strengthen its position in the gaming segment, which already generates about two-thirds of App Store revenue thanks to games and in-game purchases. Against this background, the company also acquired RAC7, a studio known for the game Sneaky Sasquatch.
The app is expected to be part of a major iOS update along with the new Solarium interface design and a number of AI-powered features.
