Apple has released the stable version of iOS 18.6 — this is the sixth major update for the iOS 18 operating system. The software was released more than two months after the release of iOS 18.5.
The new firmware can be downloaded to compatible iPhones over the air through the device's settings. The update weighs in at around 900 MB.
iOS 18.6 fixes a bug in the Photos app that prevented users from sharing memorable videos. In the release notes, Apple notes:
This update includes important bug fixes and security improvements, and addresses an issue in Photos that prevented sharing memorable videos.
Additionally, iOS 18.6 introduces changes to the App Store rules in the European Union. iPhone users in the EU will see a new interface for installing alternative markets or apps from developer sites.
Recall that work on iOS 18 is nearing completion, and Apple is already testing the beta version of iOS 26. The release of the system is scheduled for September along with new iPhone models.
