Apple renames Apple TV Plus to Apple TV
Apple has announced that its streaming service Apple TV Plus is getting a new identity and will now be called simply Apple TV . The changes were mentioned in a press release ahead of the premiere of the film F1 The Movie on the platform, which will take place on December 12, 2025. Apple's website still uses the old name.
The renaming could be confusing for users, as the Apple TV brand is already used for a movie-buying and rental app of the same name, as well as for devices like the Apple TV 4K.
The confusion is particularly apparent in Apple's statement itself, which states that F1 is available to purchase on Apple TV "before its premiere in streaming on Apple TV" and that "Apple TV is available in the Apple TV app" on various devices.
Apple has not yet said whether there will be a new logo or other changes to distinguish the streaming service from the app and set-top box.
