Apple plans to make beta versions of AirPods firmware updates publicly available for the first time, MacRumors reports.
Anyone can now test future AirPods firmware updates through the Apple Beta Software Program, without the need for a developer account. The first public beta of AirPods will be available in July.
By the way, last week Apple released a beta version of the AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2 firmware for developers.
With the new software version, these models have improved sound quality during phone and video calls, as well as studio-quality audio recording for interviews, podcasts and videos. In addition, there is the ability to control the camera via AirPods to take a photo or start recording a video.
The headphones can also now automatically pause audio if they detect that the user has fallen asleep.
Recall that Apple announced these features during the WWDC 2025 conference. In addition, the company showed iOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, visionOS 26 and the new Apple Games application.
