Apple is preparing a redesign of all its operating systems, codenamed Solarium

Apple is preparing a major design overhaul for its operating systems, which will affect not only iOS, iPadOS and macOS, but also tvOS, watchOS and visionOS. The project is codenamed Solarium and will be the biggest visual change since iOS 7. This is reported by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg.

The Solarium interface will take elements from visionOS, the system created for the Vision Pro headset. The company aims to unify the appearance of its systems and make the devices more user-friendly. macOS and iPadOS will have similar components, and the interface of Apple TV and Apple Watch will become closer to the style of the iPhone.

Developers will have access to Apple Intelligence frameworks based on built-in LLM components. This should help create more AI applications for Apple platforms. At the same time, the company has not yet demonstrated breakthroughs in generative AI - unlike Google or Microsoft.

The company is expected to unveil the Solarium redesign at WWDC 2025, which begins on June 9.

Recall that recently, insider and YouTube blogger from the Front Page Tech channel Jon Prosser published a new video in which he showed renderings of the possible design of iOS 19. According to the author, they are based on real materials from internal Apple sources.
