Apple continues to develop its own smart glasses, which could become a serious competitor to similar products on the market. According to insider and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, the new product from Apple, currently codenamed N50, will combine innovative developments in the field of artificial intelligence in a compact design.
While the company's ultimate goal is to create a leading augmented reality headset, that could still be a few years away. Apple is currently focusing on simpler smart glasses, similar to the Meta product it partnered with Ray-Ban. The Meta glasses have cameras, microphones, a voice assistant, and speakers, but no displays.
Apple wants to take a similar approach, turning its glasses into a device with Apple intelligence that can analyze the environment and provide information to the user. However, Gurman said that this product does not yet involve the use of augmented reality in its entirety.
It was also recently revealed that the company is working on AirPods with built-in cameras. Both of these products could hit the market around 2027.
