Apple unveils visionOS 26 with spatial widgets, shared viewing, and improved Personas
0

At WWDC, Apple announced visionOS 26, a new version of the operating system for the Vision Pro headset. The main innovations were spatial widgets, improved digital avatars (Personas), and shared spatial experiences for multiple users.

New widgets are now spatial objects that can be placed in the real environment. They are stored in the space when the headset is used again. Widgets such as Clock, Weather, Music and Photos interact with the environment and can display, for example, personalized playlists or panoramas. The Widgets app allows you to find widgets from compatible iOS and iPadOS apps.

Digital avatars have received their biggest update yet: thanks to 3D graphics and machine learning, they have become more realistic. Now there is support for full side profiles of the face, detailing of eyelashes, hair and skin tone, as well as over 1,000 eyeglass options.

The Spatial Scenes feature allows you to transform ordinary photos into spatial images that can be viewed from different angles.

Vision Pro users can now watch movies, play games, or work on projects together in a shared space via FaceTime.

Other new features include support for PlayStation VR2 controllers, 180° and 360° video playback, spatial browsing in Safari, eye scrolling, new security features for businesses, and additional languages for Apple Intelligence.

The beta version of visionOS 26 is now available. The stable release of the system is expected in the fall of 2025.

Recall that at WWDC 2025, Apple also introduced iOS 26, watchOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, tvOS 26, and new features for AirPods.
