PC shipments in the second quarter of 2025 grew by 6.5% compared to the same period in 2024. The total number of PCs sold in the quarter reached 68.4 million, with Apple leading the growth, according to a new report from International Data Corporation (IDC).

Among other things, IDC notes that PC shipments are growing in almost all regions, except for the US, where this did not happen due to tariffs introduced by Donald Trump.

"We expected the US market to cool down this quarter given the inventory buildup to begin the year, but what we're witnessing here might highlight US PC demand slowing down in anticipation of the import tariffs looming deadline," said Jean-Philippe Bouchard, research vice president for Worldwide Mobile Device Trackers at IDC. "Despite a flat US PC market, the rest of the world demonstrated an appetite for PCs, fueled by an aging installed base and by a steady transition to Windows 11."

As for individual companies, Lenovo remains the undisputed leader in the PC market with 17 million units. At the same time, Apple showed the largest growth in the quarter, gaining 9.1% of the market and increasing shipments by 21.4%. The Mac manufacturer is in fourth place with 6.2 million computers.
