At WWDC 2025, Apple unveiled updates to its developer tools and platforms. The company added support for large language models in Xcode 26, introduced a new design language with the Liquid Glass effect, and opened up access to the Foundation Models framework with the ability to run locally on devices.
Xcode 26 adds native ChatGPT support and integration with other LLMs via APIs or local models on Macs with Apple Silicon chips. New features allow you to generate code, tests, documentation, and even fix bugs based on developer suggestions.
The new interface design with Liquid Glass provides visual integrity and makes interfaces more expressive. SwiftUI is adapted to quickly transition to the new visual language.
Apple also introduced icon creation tools, an App Intents extension with visual search support, an updated containerization framework on macOS, and Swift 6.2 with performance improvements and WebAssembly support.
The update also includes game development tools: Game Porting Toolkit 3, Metal 4, the new Apple Games app, and AI support in shaders. Accessibility “food labels” have been introduced for the App Store, and developers have gained more control over asset uploads and access to new APIs for creating content that is safe for children.
Recall that Apple also presented at WWDC 2025 an updated design for all of its systems, iOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, tvOS 26, visionOS 26, new features for AirPods, and a new Apple Games application.
