Apple Music gets built-in ability to import music from other services

Apple Music has a built-in feature that will allow users to transfer saved music and playlists from other streaming services, but so far only in Australia and New Zealand. The company uses an integration with the SongShift service to do this.

To transfer their music to Apple Music, users will need an iPhone, iPad, Android device, or any other device with internet access. Users can potentially transfer all of their saved songs, albums, and playlists, but some items will depend on the other service.

On iPhone and iPad, transfer is available in the Apps tab in Settings, while on Android devices, it's available directly in Apple Music settings. Once transfer is selected, users need to select one of the services and log in to their account, then choose what they want to copy.

In the web version, the new function is located under the account avatar, and the further process is the same.

Some songs will require additional review. This includes tracks for which no match was found on Apple Music, but similar or alternative versions were found. Users will be able to choose to replace the track with a similar one, or skip it entirely.
