Apple is preparing a second generation of its Vision Pro headset, which could arrive as early as this year, Bloomberg reports. Among the main changes are a new M4 chip and an improved strap to reduce strain on the head and neck.
The first-generation Vision Pro was released in 2024 and featured the M2 processor. The new version will receive significantly higher performance, in particular thanks to an improved neural unit that can have more than 16 cores. This will allow the headset to work better with artificial intelligence functions - as part of Apple's overall strategy to integrate AI into all its devices.
A new strap is also being tested, which should make the 650-gram headset more comfortable during prolonged use. In the past, users have complained of fatigue when wearing the Vision Pro, even with additional accessories that are supposed to reduce the strain.
In addition, Apple is working on a cheaper Vision Pro model, which may be introduced in 2027, as well as on separate AR glasses like Meta Glasses.
