Apple Maps now available on Android and other platforms via web browser
Apple has made its mapping service Apple Maps available to Android users with the launch of its web version. Android users can now open maps.apple.com in any mobile browser without having to download the app.
The web version, which also works on Windows devices, offers basic features such as navigation, finding places, getting business information, and building routes. Digital guides are also available, which include recommendations for restaurants, tourist attractions, and shopping areas.
However, some features available in the iPhone app are still missing, such as public transit information and 3D building views in cities in the US and Europe. Additionally, users cannot sign in with an Apple ID, so saved places and personalized guides are unavailable.
The company said it plans to gradually add new features to bring the web version in line with the capabilities of the iPhone app.
