Apple introduced an updated interface for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26 at WWDC 2025, unifying the look of different platforms.
Apple has announced the biggest design overhaul to its operating systems yet, introducing a new visual style called Liquid Glass. It is translucent, adapts to context, realistically "reflects and refracts light," and changes based on content and user movement.
The new design encompasses controls, icons, navigation, widgets, Dock, and tab bars. It retains the familiar Apple branding, but now better aligns with modern device designs with rounded corners. Liquid Glass is used both at the level of individual interface elements and in system features, including the Lock screen, desktop, and Control Center.
In macOS, users can customize the look of their Dock and desktop, choosing between light, dark, or transparent styles. In iOS 26, tab bars automatically collapse as you scroll to focus on the content. All the changes are also implemented in new versions of Apple’s standard apps, from Safari to FaceTime.
Developers will receive updated APIs for SwiftUI, UIKit, and AppKit, allowing them to easily integrate Liquid Glass into their applications.
The new design is already available in beta versions of the systems, and a full release is expected in the fall along with new Apple devices.
