Apple still has a product sold with Lightning
Despite the transition of most Apple devices to USB-C, there is still a gadget with a Lightning connector on sale, writes Wired. This is the first-generation Apple Pencil , which the company introduced back in 2015.
In 2024, Apple transitioned the Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad to USB-C, and in 2025, it finally stopped selling iPhones with Lightning, including the iPhone SE (3rd Gen) and iPhone 14. At the same time, the company left the Apple Pencil (1st Gen) in the lineup, as it is compatible with older iPads, as well as the 10th and 11th generation iPads with USB-C.
Apple offers four different stylus models, but the lack of backward compatibility means the company is forced to keep the original Pencil on sale for owners of compatible iPads. With the current support cycle, those tablets will receive updates for several more years, so Lightning could stay on the market until at least the end of the decade.
Recall, on September 9, 2025, Apple held a presentation where it showed the new AirPods Pro 3 headphones, Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch SE 3 smartwatches, as well as the basic iPhone 17, the ultra-thin iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro. All new products will soon appear in Ukraine.
