iPhone 17 gets a bigger screen, 120Hz, and "all-day performance" on a single charge

Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 17 with a larger 6.3-inch screen and 120Hz ProMotion support. There are also new colors, but overall the design is almost the same as last year's model.

Continuing with the display, the iPhone 17 delivers up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness and also features Ceramic Shield 2 glass protection, which is three times more scratch-resistant and has a new anti-glare coating.

Up front is the new 12MP Center Stage front camera. It has a sensor twice the size of previous models, a wider viewing angle, and a square shape for better portrait and landscape shots.

As for the main cameras, the iPhone 17 has also undergone changes. The main one is a 48 MP Fusion Main with a focal length of 26 mm and an aperture of f/1.6. It is complemented by a 48 MP wide-angle. Both are equipped with optical stabilization.

The smartphone starts with 256GB of storage and is powered by Apple's new A19 chip, promising "all-day" battery life on a single charge and 8 hours longer video playback compared to the iPhone 16, although the reality of these claims remains to be seen. Faster wireless charging is also claimed.

The iPhone 17 will be available in five colors — Lavender, Mist Blue, Black, White, and Sage — and will start at $799. Pre-orders for the entire lineup, including the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Air, will open on September 12.
