Apple updated the iPad Pro line: the tablets received a new M5 chip
Along with the Vision Pro, Apple also updated the iPad Pro lineup, introducing models with the new M5 processor.
The M5 chip is built on a 3-nanometer process and features a 10-core GPU with a new Neural Engine. According to Apple, the neural engine performs up to 38 trillion operations per second — six times faster than the M1 chip. This allows iPad Pro to process photos and videos faster, generate images, and perform AI tasks locally on the device.
The processor also has 30% more memory bandwidth and faster SSD storage. Models have 12GB of RAM and up to 2TB of internal storage.
The iPad Pro retains its slim aluminum body—5.1 mm for the 13-inch version and 5.3 mm for the 11-inch. The Ultra Retina XDR display is built on Tandem OLED, delivering a peak brightness of 1,600 nits and a contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1.
It supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, and the C1X modem provides faster mobile connectivity. A USB-C port with Thunderbolt 4 allows you to connect external 6K monitors and SSDs.
The camera remains 12 MP, but it has a new sensor with improved low-light performance. The front camera has been moved to the long edge, similar to the 2024 iPad Air, which provides more convenient use in landscape orientation.
Along with the tablets, Apple introduced an updated Magic Keyboard with an aluminum surface and a trackpad with feedback, as well as the second-generation Apple Pencil Pro, which now supports haptic feedback and changing tools by squeezing the pen.
The new iPad Pro runs on iPadOS 26, which brings an updated windowing system, a redesigned Files app, Apple Intelligence features for creating text and drawings, and a new Preview app for working with PDFs.
Sales start on October 22. The 11-inch model starts at $999, and the 13-inch model starts at $1,299. The tablets are available in two colors: Space Black and Silver.
