Android will start automatically saving and restoring your anti-theft settings

Google has added the ability to automatically backup and restore Theft Protection settings on Android, Android Authority reports.

Previously, users had to manually enable these features after resetting their phone to factory settings or when switching to a new device.

Now, when you restore a backup, all anti-theft settings, including Theft Detection Lock, Offline Device Lock, Remote Lock, and more, will be restored automatically. This not only saves time, but also ensures that your device remains protected without any additional settings.

The feature will arrive in the September Play Services update v25.34. It includes backing up app data, Wi-Fi networks, and other system settings, and now Theft Protection has joined the list. The update will be rolling out gradually, so some devices will get it before others.

This update simplifies transferring data to a new phone or restoring after a reset, making the process more convenient and secure, while allowing users to keep important settings without the risk of losing device security.
