Google will add a battery health check feature to its Pixel smartphones, similar to the one already available on the iPhone. The innovation will be available on the company's devices with the Android 16 update, Android Police reports.
This feature will allow Pixel owners to determine the level of wear on their smartphones' batteries and see if they need to be replaced. The menu will be available in the "Battery" section of Settings.
The innovation is currently available in Android 16 Beta 3, and although the menu appears on all devices that support the update, battery status information is currently only displayed on the Pixel 9 and Pixel 8a.
In addition to displaying the battery status, this section will also contain links to articles that will help users extend the life of their smartphone's battery. Among the materials will be recommendations on updating the device to the latest software version, enabling adaptive charging, avoiding extreme temperatures, and disabling unnecessary features.
Google has not yet made any official statements about the new feature for Pixel, and it is currently unknown whether this innovation will be exclusive to the company's smartphones or whether it will also be available on devices from other manufacturers.
