AMD increases its share of the processor market, while Intel loses ground
AMD has made significant strides in early 2025, increasing its CPU market share by 16.6%, while Intel has lost 10%. This data was obtained based on statistics from the CPU-Z program (via WccfTech), which collects information from users around the world.
A key factor in AMD's success was the Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor, which became the most popular among users. This eight-core chip not only topped the sales rankings, but also contributed to the growth of the popularity of eight-core processors, which grew by 32.6% year-over-year and now occupy 24.7% of all systems tested through CPU-Z. They are followed by six-core processors with a share of 22.5%.
Socket AM5 is also seeing a rise in popularity, with its share increasing by 144.9% year-on-year. At the same time, users are opting for budget chipsets such as the AMD B650 due to their functionality and compatibility with modern processors.
While Intel still holds the market lead, AMD is gradually closing the gap, showing steady growth. This trend indicates a changing balance of power in the processor industry, where AMD is becoming an increasingly serious competitor.
