AMD unveiled its new RDNA 4 architecture along with the announcement of two new RX 9000 series graphics cards – the Radeon RX 9070 priced at $549 and the RX 9070 XT priced at $599, which will compete with the NVIDIA RTX 5070. They will go on sale on March 6, 2025.

The Radeon RX 9070 series features 16GB of GDDR6 memory and delivers an average 20% performance boost in 1400p gaming over the previous generation RX 7900 GRE. The Radeon RX 9070 XT delivers an even greater performance boost, averaging 40%.

The new graphics cards feature third-generation ray tracing technology that delivers realistic lighting, shadows, and reflections, and integrate AMD features to maximize hardware utilization. At the same time, the RX 9000 series is equipped with the latest second-generation AI accelerators with 8x INT8 bandwidth per AI accelerator.

The AMD Radeon RX 9070 and 9070 XT graphics cards support a new machine learning-based upscaling technology — AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution Technology 4 (FSR 4), which will be compatible with over 30 games at the time of the RX 9070's release.

Additionally, the Radeon RX 9070 series supports DisplayPort 2.1a and HDMI 2.1b, enabling resolutions up to 8K at 144Hz, 12-bit HDR, and the full REC2020 color space. With FreeSync technology, the Radeon RX 9070 delivers smooth, tear-free, and stutter-free gameplay on over 4,000 compatible displays, including 8K 144Hz monitors with DisplayPort 2.1.

Additionally, buyers will receive the HYPR-RX feature set, which allows for instant activation of AMD Radeon Super Resolution, Fluid Motion Frames 2.1, Anti-Lag, and Boost. All of these features can be customized to match the hardware and gamer preferences through the updated AMD Adrenalin Edition software, which will support RX 9000 series graphics cards.
