Amazon has launched testing of a new AI-based bot, Buy for Me, which will be able to find and order products on third-party sites if they are not available on Amazon.
Amazon's AI agent will automatically navigate to the external website, select the product the user requested, and fill in the user's name, shipping address, and payment details to purchase it.
Amazon says the new feature is powered by Amazon Nova and Anthropic AI models. The bot uses encryption to "securely" insert users' payment information into third-party sites.
By the way, this is what makes Amazon's AI agent different from its counterparts from OpenAI and Google, which require users to fill in information about payment methods themselves.
If a customer wants to return or exchange an order, Buy for Me will redirect them to the digital storefront from which the AI agent made the purchase.
