According to Variety, Amazon has begun work on a new series based on the Wolfenstein video game franchise. Kilter Films, known for producing the Fallout series, is working on the adaptation. Patrick Somerville, who also produced Fallout, will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. The production team also includes representatives from MachineGames, the studio that created the Wolfenstein series.

Details of the plot of the series are not being disclosed at this time. Representatives of the MachineGames studio have limited themselves to the slogan "The story of killing Nazis is evergreen." It is currently unknown whether the series will adapt a separate part of the franchise or create an original story.

Wolfenstein is a series of games that helped popularize the first-person shooter genre. The game's story centers on American soldier William "BJ" Blaskowitz, who fights against the Nazis and encounters their occult experiments. The first parts - "Castle Wolfenstein" (1981) and "Beyond Castle Wolfenstein" (1984) - were top-down games. Starting with "Wolfenstein 3D" (1992), the series switched to a first-person format. In total, the series includes 14 games, the latest of which is the VR project "Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot".

Amazon continues to expand its catalog of video game adaptations - in addition to Fallout, which has been renewed for a third season, the company is working on a God of War film adaptation and is considering projects in the Mass Effect universe.
