AirPods Pro 3 with heart rate sensors will be released by the end of 2025 — Mark Gurman

Apple plans to introduce a third-generation AirPods Pro by the end of 2025, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported in his weekly Power On newsletter. The main innovation will be heart rate monitoring, a technology the company has already started using in the Powerbeats Pro 2.

The Powerbeats Pro 2 uses optical sensors that emit pulses more than 100 times per second, tracking changes in blood flow in the ears. The data is integrated with the Apple Health app and other fitness services. If the user is wearing an Apple Watch at the same time, the system automatically switches to data from the watch, and it is likely that the AirPods Pro 3 will work the same way.

According to Gurman, Apple is preparing a number of other fall updates: new Apple Watches, a new Vision Pro headset, and an iPad Pro with an M5 chip and two front-facing cameras. In addition to AirPods Pro 3, updates to the HomePod mini and Apple TV are expected.

In addition to the heart rate sensor, the new headphones may get improved active noise cancellation, better sound quality, and design changes. The current generation AirPods Pro 2 debuted in September 2022, and in 2023 received a version with a USB-C port for charging the case and a few minor updates.

Recall that Apple is also currently working on a foldable iPhone. The smartphone will have four cameras, Touch ID and a display without a noticeable crease. The release of the new product will be in 2026.
