Apple will add support for lossless audio and ultra-low latency audio to AirPods Max
Apple has announced that AirPods Max will receive a new software update next month that will add support for Lossless audio and Ultra-low latency audio to the headphones.
Using the included USB-C cable, owners of the headphones will be able to enjoy lossless sound while listening to music, watching movies, and playing games. Apple says the AirPods Max will be the only headphones that allow musicians to both create and mix in personalized spatial audio with head tracking.
With this update, the headphones will receive 24-bit 48 kHz lossless audio. The update also extends to personalized spatial audio to provide more accurate sound without compression. This update will also allow you to listen to over 100 million songs that support lossless audio on Apple Music.
However, Apple is starting to sell a USB-C to 3.5mm jack cable separately for $39. It will be available at official and authorized Apple stores. It will allow you to connect AirPods Max to audio outputs where it is not possible to do so via Type-C.
