The Ministry of Digital Affairs is actively testing an AI agent in Diia

- 25 June, 03:23 PM

The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine reports that the Diia application is already actively testing an assistant based on artificial intelligence. The agent is planned to be launched for all users soon, but no exact dates have been announced yet.

The AI-based assistant will be able to answer questions from Diia users, and will also be able to create income certificates based on a regular text query. Currently, testing is being conducted internally, but in the future, they plan to increase the number of testers, after which a public launch will take place.

In addition, the Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, recently spoke about the benefits that a language model and an agent based on artificial intelligence will bring to Ukraine.

Built on Ukrainian data, history, academic papers, and legislation, and deployed on Ukrainian infrastructure, the Ukrainian language model will not compete with services like ChatGPT. Instead, it will allow AI to be safely used to work with "sensitive" topics, including in the field of defense technologies.

Fedorov says that for the government, it will improve the optimization of public services. In particular, citizens will be able to access services and answer questions through a chatbot interface. This will potentially reduce the need for large contact centers.

For national security and defense, AI will be able to process sensitive battlefield data, such as photos and videos. This data could also be used for unmanned drones.

Another advantage of AI in Ukraine is the protection of the information space and historical heritage of Ukraine from Russian influence and disinformation, which very often appears in familiar chatbots. The model will also have advantages for Ukrainian businesses, in particular, by helping to develop products in various areas, such as medicine and cybersecurity.

One of the biggest fears people have about AI is losing their jobs, and Fedorov touched on that as well. He said that while AI will automate certain processes, it will also create new opportunities and help people learn and acquire new skills.

We remind you that the Ministry of Digital Affairs announced the Ukrainian LLM earlier this month. It will be developed together with Kyivstar, and the release is planned by the end of 2025. The assistant for Diia was announced back in February with the promise that it would listen to citizens' complaints and forward them to the relevant state institutions.
