Google has finally started rolling out the ability to move the address bar from top to bottom to users of the stable version of the Chrome browser for Android. The feature has been available on iOS since October 2024, and in beta on Android since October 2024, 9to5Google reports.
Despite the additional customization options that make the address bar easier to access on devices with large screens, Google hasn't made any other changes. The layout of additional actions hidden behind the three dots remains the same, and some items, like History, still require you to drag to the top of the screen.
The update is currently only available on a limited number of devices, but Google has already started rolling it out to the stable version of Chrome, so you can expect wider availability in the near future.
The changes to Chrome are more noticeable in the settings, where they are now available to all users. Google has introduced a revamped layout for browser controls and user data. The number of “core” settings has been reduced to four, including an option to change the location of the address bar.
After the Basic tab, users will see the Passwords & AutoFill section, which will contain data about passwords, saved addresses, and payment methods. Next comes the Advanced settings, which houses all the other items.
