“A phoenix rises over the dark blue sky”: The Tapbot Team is Working on a Client for Bluesky
Since Elon Musk acquired the social network Twitter in the fall of 2022, a lot has changed — the name (X), user verification, moderation… One of the noticeable changes almost immediately was the rejection of third-party clients. Among these was the popular Tweetbot, which had many fans, but was forced to cease its existence due to the actions of the new management.
However, as MacStories noted, the Tapbots development team is currently working on a client for Bluesky, a competitor to X, which continues to grow its user base amid dissatisfaction with changes in X and Elon Musk personally.
Tapbots consists of two developers and one designer, so it's not yet known how quickly they'll be able to release the client. But the team is tentatively planning to launch the client this summer. A test version will also be available as soon as it's ready.
Currently, on the developers' website you can find a page with the inscription "A phoenix rises over the dark blue sky", and below the logo - Phoenix for Bluesky.
The current Tapbots portfolio consists of a client for another social network Mastodon — Ivory for iOS and Mac, a Pastebot application for Mac, and Calcbot for iOS and Mac. You can follow updates on the new client for Bluesky on the corresponding profile on this social network.
