Donald Trump's imposition of tariffs and their 90-day delay have shaken up not only the stock market and the value of the largest technology companies. Apple, Microsoft, Dell, Lenovo and Google are rushing to ship as many premium products as possible to the US due to the potential for serious price increases. The Verge has summarized some of these cases.
So, according to estimates by Reuters and The Times Of India, Apple managed to deliver 600 tons of iPhones to the States. It took three days and five planes to do this (actually, the latter indicated this number of smartphones, taking into account the size of the devices themselves and the load capacity of the planes). The company had to add workers and not stop the factory in India on the weekend in order to increase production by 20%.
Nikkei Asia (paywall) also spoke with various suppliers for Apple, Microsoft and Google. They also noted that manufacturers are trying to speed up the delivery of products in the quantities that can only be done by air. HP initially did not plan to increase supplies, but within 24 hours the company changed its mind. The manufacturer also plans to increase production in Mexico.
It is noted that Samsung is reducing orders for smartphone components by mid-2025. At the same time, Acer and Lenovo plan to change their focus to other markets, not the US.
