The current US President Donald Trump is doing a lot to help Elon Musk's business. It even goes so far as to say that he even bought an electric car from the billionaire's company right in the White House. Now he is threatening to go to prison for sabotaging Tesla. Trump previously called the attacks on Musk's company domestic terrorism.
"People caught sabotaging Tesla will have a very high chance of going to jail for up to twenty years, and that includes sponsors. WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU!!!" Donald Trump wrote.
Tesla is not doing well right now. After Elon Musk became actively involved in politics and became the head of the US Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), many Americans changed their attitude towards the billionaire. Since Tesla is his main and most valuable asset, the company has become a prime target for those dissatisfied with Musk's activities.
In recent weeks, protests have been taking place outside Tesla dealerships in the United States and elsewhere, often demanding that Elon Musk step down from politics. In some cases, these protests have resulted in damage to the company's dealerships or charging stations. However, the protests appear to be paying off, as Tesla's stock has been falling sharply recently.
U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi said on Tuesday that three people had been charged in connection with the arson attacks on Tesla dealerships and charging stations, calling it a "wave of domestic terrorism" against Musk's company, Reuters reported.
"Let this be a warning: if you join this wave of domestic terrorism against Tesla properties, the Department of Justice will put you behind bars," Bondi said.
