More lines, more angles… more dimensions!
The new Jeep Cherokee clearly resembles its predecessor from the 1990s: a maximum of straight lines, almost rectangular headlights and taillights, a vertical radiator grille, and the signature trapezoidal wheel arches. However, pay attention to the carefully smoothed transitions of the side windows and recessed door handles: it seems that, even despite such rectangular brutality, the Jeep Cherokee's aerodynamics have been carefully worked on.
Well, with the design of the Jeep company lately everything is really going well. But what about practicality? The answer to this question is given by significantly increased dimensions: the length of the car now reaches 4.78 meters, and the wheelbase has stretched to 2.87 meters
Inside – a modern interior and a gasoline-electric hybrid
The comfort of the driver and passengers should be promoted not only by the increase in dimensions, but also by the modern interior. Already in the standard configuration there is a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel and a multimedia system with a 12.3-inch touch screen display, adaptive cruise control and monitoring of “blind spots” of mirrors are promised. And in the higher-level configuration you can get ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a panoramic 2-section glass roof, a “digital” interior rear-view mirror, etc. By the way, pay attention: under the central display there is a block of keys (it seems to be touch) for controlling the climate control, even lower there is a place for physical buttons and massive transmission switches, plus there are also many physical keys on the steering wheel.
No less interesting is what is hidden under the hood. After all, the new Jeep Cherokee is currently announced exclusively with a single power unit – and this is a gasoline-electric hybrid based on a 1.6-liter turbo engine and a pair of electric motors. The total system power is 210-213 hp (depending on the measurement method), and the total torque reaches 312 Nm; and then the torque is transmitted to four wheels thanks to the Jeep Active Drive I 4x4 all-wheel drive system with the ability to disconnect the rear axle. Together with several driving modes that can be switched by the selector (plus there is also a LOW GEAR button), as well as a ground clearance of 203 mm, all this should provide the Jeep Cherokee with good off-road capabilities. At the same time, the hybrid system should provide excellent economy: the declared fuel consumption is 6.4 liters per 100 km in the combined cycle.
Sales of the new Jeep Cherokee in the USA will start by the end of this year. Price tags are already known: from $ 37 thousand for the basic version and up to $ 46 thousand for the maximum version of the car.
