The Mazda CX-5 crossover is undoubtedly very popular in Ukraine and the world at large – over 4.5 million cars of two generations have been produced since 2012. Now we meet the third incarnation of the Mazda CX-5, which is just now celebrating its first public debut, should start sales in Europe by the end of the year, and appear in Ukraine in the second half of next year.
New generation Mazda CX-5: branded design, increased dimensions
A quick first look at the new Mazda CX-5 makes you exclaim: yes, that was it! The familiar KODO design, rich shiny red color, a huge curved radiator grille, narrow headlights to the right/left of this grille. So what if the headlights have changed shape a bit? Or the lights now resemble a horizontally elongated letter L, which goes deep into the trunk lid. Or these varnished wheel arch trims - they were similar before, but now they have received small protrusions. Such minor changes can be explained by another facelift of the car, that's all!
However, in reality, the new Mazda CX-5 crossover is ready to offer more – in the literal sense of the word. The main difference of the new product is a considerable (+115 mm) increase in the wheelbase and body length: we have 2.815 meters and 4.69 meters, respectively. By the way, pay attention to the significantly enlarged rear doors, which promise more space for second-row passengers. In addition, the car has added a little in width and height – so the new generation of the Mazda CX-5 crossover will be easier to compete with rivals, which have also grown in size over the past few years. In addition, the increase in overall dimensions should have a positive effect on the trunk: the latter is promised to increase by +61 liters.
But as for the technical indicators, there is no such exact certainty with the numbers. As of now, it is known about the obligatory atmospheric engine with a volume of 2.5 liters, but its version and exact power in the version for Ukraine are unknown. However, we can hope for the launch of versions with front and all-wheel drive, a classic 6-speed "automatic" and independent suspensions of all wheels: MacPherson in front and multi-link in the rear. And then - we can hope for the appearance of the SKYACTIV - Z engine and a new hybrid system. However, this is for a very distant future: even for Europe, the hybrid system is promised to debut only in 2027.
Inside: The Display Name Revolution
Here's where the new generation of Mazda CX-5 is immediately recognizable, it's in the cabin. After all, from now on, the Mazda CX-5 crossover has a front panel with a huge central display: at least 12.9 inches, and in the maximum versions it can even be 15.6 inches! Plus integrated modern Google services (okay, thank you here) and full integration of climate control into the display (but here it's a real shame). The driver's seat is distinguished by a new steering wheel and its own 10.25-inch digital instrument panel; there will be no more traditional instruments with arrows. However, there will definitely be a projection display, BOSE audio, a panoramic sunroof, and heated rear seats.
The start of sales of the new generation Mazda CX-5 on the European market is scheduled for December 2025. The first price guidelines are already known - for example, in the German market the car will cost from 35,000 euros. But for us they will probably prepare slightly different versions and, hopefully, different prices. We will find out the details closer to the time of the car's appearance; let me remind you - this should happen in the second half of 2026. So we are waiting for the new generation Mazda CX-5 crossover in Ukraine!
