The Top Gear YouTube channel clearly demonstrated the new version of CarPlay Ultra in operation

Apple has finally launched a new version of CarPlay. And yes, not every user of this technology can see CarPlay Ultra in action yet. The first car manufacturer to join the integration (and even agree to transfer the interface and part of the control of the car's native functions) was Aston Martin.

The YouTube channel of the famous program Top Gear did not bypass such a release. Having found the desired Aston Martin DBX model, in a nearly 20-minute video they demonstrate the features of using CarPlay Ultra with the car's two available displays - the digital instrument cluster and the media screen.

This is quite interesting to see, because for the first time, CarPlay gets control not only of media functions with additional applications from a smartphone, but also of native functions of the car itself, such as adjusting the climate system, changing the design of the dashboard, and even specific control settings.

In addition, in certain interface elements, such as in this particular case with audio, CarPlay Ultra integrates the native Aston Martin version directly into the system, without the need to go to the manufacturer's general menu. Users of the regular version of CarPlay need to perform a few extra steps for this, which certainly does not simplify management. And in the new version, such moments are better taken into account.

Meanwhile, CarPlay Ultra has a new widget screen. And if you can add custom options to them, this could also improve certain usage scenarios over time. Or simply add convenient options for using the media display.
