After a March full of premieres, we are expecting a calmer April. With all that, projects worthy of your attention will be released this month and we have prepared for you 5 films and 5 shows in April 2023 that are worth paying attention to.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie (April 5)
After the unsuccessful film adaptation of 1993, the Nintendo company refused to bring its intellectual property to the screens for a long time. 30 years later, a bright and cheerful cartoon, with tones of fan service, from the Illumination studio (Despicable Me and Minions) awaits us.
The cartoon tells the story of a plumber named Mario who travels through the Mushroom Kingdom with Princess Peach and the anthropomorphic mushroom Toad to find Mario’s brother Luigi and save the world from the evil Bowser.
Perfect for a family outing, and if you’re a fan of the iconic game series that’s almost 40 years old, you’ve probably already booked your front row tickets. “Let’s-a go!”

Air (April 6)
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have long established themselves as a great duo of actors and screenwriters (Good Will Hunting, The Last Duel, Kevin Smith’s films). This year, they’re bringing us a biopic based on a script that topped the list of the best unmade screenplays of 2021.
The film tells the story of the legendary partnership between the then-young athlete Michael Jordan and the recently created basketball division of the Nike company. Together, they created the Air Jordan brand, which revolutionized sports and modern culture.
The premiere of the film took place on April 6.
- Luxembourg, Luxembourg (April 13)
In 2019, Ukrainian director Antonio Lukich directed My Thoughts Are Quiet, which received many positive reviews and made him a breakthrough director of domestic cinema. He continues to work in the tragicomedy genre, and on April 13 we will have the opportunity to see his new film.
The story tells about two brothers, Kolya and Vasya, who go on a long journey to Luxembourg. One of them dreams of getting to know his father, whom he hasn’t seen since he was five years old, and the other thinks that visiting a father they don’t actually know is unnecessary.
- Renfield (April 13)
Count Dracula’s servant Renfield finds a new life in modern-day New Orleans when he falls in love with a policewoman named Rebecca Quincy and decides to stand up to his creator in hopes of finally freeing himself from slavery.
Judging by the trailers, we are in for a bloody and trashy comedy, and with Nicolas Cage as Dracula, the movie will definitely not be boring.

Les Trois Mousquetaires: D’Artagnan (April 20)
Screen adaptation of the legendary novel by Alexandre Dumas and the first part of the dilogy about The Three Musketeers. Large-scale filming and actors of the first magnitude (Eva Green, Vincent Cassel) are added.
D’Artagnan arrives in Paris and teams up with Athos, Porthos and Aramis, the king’s three musketeers. He faces the dark machinations of Cardinal Richelieu and has no idea that fate will lead him to the heart of a real war, where the future of France is at stake.
The series in the next selection will be only original.

The Good Mothers (April 5)
Three women born into the deadliest and richest of Italy’s mafia clans work with a female prosecutor to destroy it from within.
The action-packed crime series about strong women has already been released on the Hulu platform and has received many positive reviews. The first 2 episodes out of 6 were shown at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival and the series was awarded the Berlinale Series Award.

Unsuccessful contractor Danny Cho meets successful self-made entrepreneur Amy Lau on the road. An ordinary road accident causes a real war between motorists and turns their lives upside down. Steven Yeun, known to us from The Walking Dead, plays the lead role.

Transatlantic (April 7)
Transatlantic is a Netflix adaptation of the novel The Flight Portfolio by the American writer Julia Orringer. In 1940, Varian Fry, an American journalist, traveled to Marseille to help artists and writers get from France to the United States. Among the people he saved were Hannah Arendt, Max Ernst, Marcel Duchamp and Marc Chagall. This is a story about forbidden love, high-stakes adventure and incredible courage.

The Last Thing He Told Me (April 14)
Apple TV+ has prepared a tense thriller, where viewers will see the hints of unexpected plot twists and a mystery that the main characters will have to solve.
Based on Laura Dave’s novel The Last Thing He Said to Me. Before Owen Michaels disappears, he manages to deliver a note to his beloved wife Hannah, asking her to protect his daughter from his first marriage. When FBI agents arrive at her home unannounced, Hannah quickly realizes that her husband is not who he says he is. The key to who Owen really is lies with his daughter, and she and her stepmother are trying to find out the truth.
Starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Jennifer Garner.

Love and Death (April 27)
The HBO Max miniseries, starring Elizabeth Olsen and Breaking Bad stars Jesse Plemons and Krysten Ritter, will tell the story of Candy Montgomery. The series, based on real events in the USA in the 1980s, tells the story of an exemplary housewife from Texas, Candy Montgomery, who does not feel happy in her marriage and therefore cheats on her husband with her neighbor, named Alan. This becomes the beginning of a story with a tragic ending.
