We have a traditional gaming autumn: another month full of interesting releases, from space adventures to feudal Japan, from cozy adventures to adrenaline shooters.
October begins with the long-awaited Ghost of Yōtei, which is already receiving rave reviews from the press. But it's not the only one. Other potential hits follow: Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, which fans have been waiting for years, The Outer Worlds 2 from the masters of complex role-playing systems at Obsidian, and the return of the legendary series with Ninja Gaiden 4.
And, of course, what's October without some nerve-wracking action? Horror fans will be entertained by Little Nightmares III with co-op and the spooky tale Bye Sweet Carole. Multiplayer fans will get Battlefield 6 and the extraction shooter ARC Raiders. And this month there are a lot of indie games, platformers, simulators and reimaginings of classics.
Ghost of Yōtei
Release date: October 2, 2025
Genre: action, role-playing game
Platforms: PlayStation 5
Judging by the first press reviews, Ghost of Yōtei is the next PlayStation superhit. Journalists predict that this game will not be just a sequel to the extraordinary star-studded Ghost of Tsushima: this time the Sucker Punch team has created a well-crafted adventure game with thoughtful gameplay and a high-quality plot.
According to the developers, the main principles are the same: we play as a wandering warrior in feudal Japan, we can freely explore the world at any pace, and this world is incredibly beautiful.
Ghost of Yōtei is a sequel, but over 300 years have passed since Ghost of Tsushima. So we have a different protagonist, and the location has changed. Now we will explore the area near Mount Yotai, which is on the island of Ezo (Hokkaido). We get to know the tragic story of the mercenary Atsu. She returns to her small homeland to avenge the death of her family. Their blood was spilled by the gang "Yotai Six".
At the time of writing, Ghost of Yōtei has already been rated 87/100 on Metacritic, with praise for the game's story, respect for Japanese culture, beauty, and good combat system.
Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2
Release date: October 2, 2025
Genre: platformer
Platforms: Nintendo Switch 1/2
Nintendo has decided to re-release two classic games, Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2, on two of its current consoles – the first and second generation Nintendo Switch. These are platformers that once took the genre to a new level: space worlds, gravity tricks, jumping over planets.
In the first game, Mario again saves Princess Peach and collects stars, in the second - Yoshi joins with new abilities, and on the way he meets both familiar friends and old enemies. Mario himself is also not without surprises: a bee, a ghost, a rock, fire, ice and even clouds. Each form adds new mechanics.
The updated edition will receive 1080p on Switch and up to 4K on Switch 2, a tweaked interface, new chapters, a help mode, listening to the soundtrack, and support for amiibo toys.
Bye Sweet Carole
Release date: October 9, 2025
Genre: adventure, horror
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One / Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 1/2
Bye Sweet Carole was first teased back in 2021, and now, after all the delays and anticipation, the game is finally here. It's a 2D horror adventure from Little Sewing Machine, the studio founded by Remothered creator Chris Darryl. The game is described as an interactive spooky tale in the style of old Disney cartoons, only instead of magic and princesses, there are swamps, tar bunnies, mutant owls, and other creatures from nightmares.
The story centers on Lana Benton, a young woman who sets out to find her friend Carol Simmons, who has mysteriously disappeared from Bunny Hall. Everyone around her is certain that Carol has escaped, but the investigation leads Lana into a dark world where she will have to hide and use strange abilities, including transforming into a rabbit.
Battlefield 6
Release date: October 10, 2025
Genre: shooter, multiplayer
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
Battlefield 6 is the game that has been awaited for a long time. A classic multiplayer first-person shooter with huge maps, technology and the same feeling of chaos when everything around explodes and crumbles. The beta has already proven that the series is in good shape - over half a million players on Steam in the first day, and this is even more than in Call of Duty. Fans were delighted with the return of old classes and new little things: you can roll, pull allies to a safe place or cling to armored vehicles.
The game takes place in 2027: NATO is collapsing, the world is heading towards a new war, and the Pax Armada mercenaries are trying to take control. Nine maps are available at the start, including classic and new arenas - from deserts to the ruins of a metropolis.
Little Nightmares III
Release date: October 10, 2025
Genre: platformer, puzzle
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 1/2
I don't know about you, but both Little Nightmares games were pretty scary to me with their atmosphere and oppressive sense of helplessness. And one look at the Little Nightmares III trailer and you'll immediately recognize the familiar aesthetic.
The plot now centers on two characters – a boy and a girl – who wander through a scary place with the strange name of Nowhere. The game world is the Spiral, a series of distorted realities that you can only get to in your dreams. There is also a creepy confectionery factory where candy monsters are waiting for you, and a gloomy amusement park with terrifying giants. As before, you will have to explore the environment, look for objects and figure out how to overcome obstacles.
But there is one significant news - cooperative. The second hero can be played by both artificial intelligence and a real person. Moreover, the second person does not even have to have their own copy of the game. It sounds interesting, but there are doubts: in my opinion, atmospheric horrors are primarily about loneliness.
In addition, the development is now being handled by Supermassive Games, the creators of Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures, rather than Tarsier Studios. This team knows how to create cinematic horror and dramatic branching stories. But how they managed to embody the atmosphere of silence, muted horror and a tiny child among giant monsters – we’ll find out after October 10th.
Keeper
Release date: October 17, 2025
Genre: action/adventure
Platforms: Windows, Xbox Series X|S
Double Fine, the studio behind Psychonauts, has teamed up with Lee Petty to create Keeper, a wordless adventure with a story. The protagonist is a lighthouse that has awakened, let go of its roots and set off for a distant mountain. He is aided in his journey by a seabird that can interact with ancient mechanisms.
Keeper is a world after the disappearance of humans, where the light of a lighthouse affects the flora, drives away the darkness and opens the way through strange worlds. It sounds like a fairy tale, but at the same time it is a metaphor for loneliness and friendship. The game will be on Game Pass from release.
Ninja Gaiden 4
Release date: October 21, 2025
Genre: action/slasher
Platforms: Windows, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5
Ninja Gaiden 4 finds the player in a Tokyo covered in poisonous rain after an ancient evil awakens. The only hope is the young ninja Yakumo, who is destined to face a dark dragon, and the legendary Ryu Hayabusa will help or restrain him.
The gameplay retains the spirit of the classic parts of the series - dynamic battles with an emphasis on quick switching between attack and defense, one-on-one duels in the style of fighting games, and a new move "Bloodbath", which allows you to chop up multiple enemies at once. Yakumo and Ryu have different fighting styles, but the controls remain familiar.
The game will appear on Game Pass immediately upon release.
Jurassic World: Evolution 3
Release date: October 21, 2025
Genre: simulator, strategy
Platforms: Windows, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5
The new part of the dinosaur park simulator looks interesting. In Jurassic World Evolution 3, for the first time in the series, you will be able to raise baby dinosaurs, watching them grow up. The game features over 80 species of extinct animals.
The basic formula remains the same: build parks, breed dinosaurs from DNA, attract visitors, and tame escapees. At the same time, a new global campaign has appeared, with locations from Montana to Japan.
Among the innovations are more realistic dinosaur behavior, a completely revamped construction with the ability to create your own buildings, flexible landscape editing with waterfalls and gorges, new attractions, and park sharing between players.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2
Release date: October 21, 2025
Genre: role-playing game
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
Probably, some fans of the first part of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines have already become grandfathers, but they have finally waited for the sequel. The game will take us to modern Seattle. The protagonist is an ancient vampire named Fire, who wakes up after centuries of sleep without memory, but with the voice of another vampire Fabien in his head. Together they investigate a mysterious murder in a neo-noir style, which can change the balance of power in vampire society.
The developers from The Chinese Room noted that the main campaign will last about 20-25 hours, and the full passage with side quests - about 40 hours. At the same time, the role of Fabien has been significantly expanded: his story will be revealed in flashbacks of the 1920s, and the concept itself is connected to the Malkavian clan.
Dispatch
Release date: October 22, 2025
Genre: adventure, strategy
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5
Dispatch is the debut game from AdHoc, a studio that grew out of Telltale Games. It is a comedy action/strategy game set in an alternate Los Angeles. Players take on the role of Robert Robertson, a former superhero Mecha-Man who has lost his suit and is forced to work as a dispatcher for a superhero agency. He coordinates former villains and villains, completes missions, and looks for a way to regain his powers.
The main feature is the choice with long-term consequences, which affects both the hero and the fate of the city. Famous actors Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey, Jeffrey Wright and popular YouTubers participated in the voice acting.
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault
Release date: October 23, 2025 (Early Access)
Genre: action/RPG
Platforms: Windows, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5
Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault is only available in Early Access, but will be available immediately on PC Game Pass, and will later come to Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.
The sequel features three biomes with unique enemies, an updated combat system with four weapons, over a hundred relics to sell in the shop, and a variety of dungeon and trade perks. The story and shop system will be available at launch, and the game will later receive new locations, bosses, quests, and wider customization options.
Traditionally, you will have to combine the everyday life of a shopkeeper and the adventures of a treasure hunter: during the day - manage the shop and develop the town, at night - take risks in dangerous dungeons. The ancient artifact Endless Vault will test everyone's endurance, because the trip can result in both great enrichment and complete loss of everything acquired.
Simon the Sorcerer Origins
Release date: October 28, 2025
Genre: adventure
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One / Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 1/2
The Simon the Sorcerer series once stood on a par with such legendary quests as Monkey Island or Discworld. The first game in 1993 became a cult thanks to the humor and absurd situations the hero found himself in, the sequel consolidated this status, but after 2009 Simon disappeared from the radar. It seemed that the series had finally become a thing of the past.
And so the adventures return. Simon the Sorcerer Origins is an official prequel, set a few weeks before the events of the original. Simon is expelled from school (well, literally for nothing!), moves with his family, and soon finds himself accidentally thrown into a world of magic, where dangerous trials, puzzles, and the revelation of an ancient prophecy await him.
The developers promise a classic adventure with modernized mechanics, signature humor, and lots of Easter eggs.
The Outer Worlds 2
Release date: October 29, 2025
Genre: role-playing game
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
The legendary Obsidian returns with the (possibly) legendary second part of the legendary "Fallout in space". The Outer Worlds 2, like its predecessor, did not forget to take satire and cynicism with it into space. Only now not to the Alkyon colony, but to a new world - Arcadia. We will have to play as the captain of the Earth Directorate, who pathetically swears to fight for justice, but in a couple of minutes discovers that his superiors are hypocritical bureaucrats with dictatorial manners (I was also surprised!). A new main enemy enters the arena - the Protectorate (not to be confused with the Directorate), monopolists of interstellar flights, and, as usual, they have problems with their conscience and explosions on space stations.
As for the gameplay, Obsidian decided that the player deserves more than just "shoot and forget": stealth, hacking, sabotage, robot flashing, climbing through ventilation... Want to go all out? You can too, but the enemies are not stupid now, and shooting feels much more enjoyable: they say the developers consulted with people from Halo and Destiny.
They also say that the character system has become simpler, but the choice of biography now affects dialogues and tasks: you can be a renegade hero, a random "lucky guy", or a former worker who just got lucky.
ARC Raiders
Release date: October 30, 2025
Genre: PvPvE shooter
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
In the new Extraction shooter, players find themselves on a harsh future Earth, occupied by mysterious mechanical invaders called the ARC. Humanity is forced to hide in underground shelters, while daredevils known as raiders risk their lives to surface, gather resources, and fight back against the robots.
The gameplay combines PvE and PvP: you must not only survive against the ARC, but also compete with other players for limited resources. Each raid is a combination of strategic thinking, teamwork and adrenaline, with deadly mechanical opponents constantly lurking on the surface.
